Labelling: Competitiveness, Consumer Information & Better Regulation for the EU

CIAA welcomes the DG SANCO initiative to consult on the future of EU Labelling Legislation with respect to the three major aspects in the discussion: consumer information, better regulation and competitiveness. Food industry has for a long time now advocated to review the legislation originally designed in the 70s that over years has become more and more complex, complicated, difficult to apply, control and understand. In this context, CIAA welcomes the opportunity to comment the future of labelling legislation, drawing on internal discussions that have lasted for almost a decade.
