CIAA expectations for the future of the CAP
The EU food industry and future agricultural policy debates

CIAA welcomed the 2003 CAP reform as it supported the basic principles of this policy, i.e. decoupling, cross-compliance and reinforcement of rural development. Member States have now implemented the main measures of the 2003 reform. It is still in its early stage in many Member States and the CAP is clearly in a period of transition. CIAA shares DG Agriculture’s views that the 2008 Health Check should both consolidate the 2003 reform and provide the necessary adjustments to the CAP.
