Review of CIAA Priorities and Objectives for Better Regulation
In light of the Commission proposals to simplify EU legislation

CIAA welcomed the Commission’s first progress report on the strategy for the simplification of the regulatory environment presented in November 2006. This communication provides a useful update of the detailed strategy for the simplification of the regulatory environment presented in autumn 2005.

This CIAA review outlines the main priorities and objectives for better regulation. CIAA appreciates that many of the points submitted for action have been taken up in the Commission’s action programme. A few issues identified as priorities by the food and drink industry are however still left out. It is important that the better regulation strategy achieves effective improvements to legislative procedures.
